PIKTES Steering Committee Meeting Held in Ankara
The 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the PIKTES IV Project was held in Ankara with the participation of public institutions, international organizations, and project stakeholders.
Delivering the opening address, Project Director Mr. Cihan Kıvanç welcomed all participants and referred to the activities carried out by PIKTES across 29 project provinces. In his remarks, Mr. Kıvanç emphasized that the project implements significant activities aimed at supporting the integration of foreign-national and socio-economically disadvantaged children into the Turkish education system in 29 provinces. He underlined that PIKTES has undertaken a strong mission to increase access to education, create inclusive learning environments, and contribute to social cohesion.
Referring to the fourth phase of PIKTES, Mr. Kıvanç noted that new objectives for children have been set and that field activities are continuing with determination, adding: “We will continue our efforts to ensure that every child benefits equally from educational opportunities.”
Ms. Maria Luisa Wyganowski, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, shared her assessments regarding the sustainability of the activities implemented within the scope of the project and expressed that cooperation would continue to be strengthened.
Ms. Celile Eren Ökten, Deputy Minister of National Education, highlighted that ensuring access to education for school-age children holds a central place in state policies in Türkiye, home to the world’s largest refugee population. She stated that the project represents a meaningful step towards reinforcing cooperation in education and deepening bonds of friendship.
During the meeting, participants shared their views on field activities, emerging needs, and plans for the upcoming period. The meeting concluded with Project Director Mr. Cihan Kıvanç thanking all participants for their valuable contributions.
